Filled with character, The Merry Gull offers high ceilings and tall windows that light up the rooms. The luxurious living room offers a smart TV, with Sky, Netflix and soundbar, perfect for movie nights. There is also a wood burning stove, for cosy nights in, with access to a fireguard to keep little hands safe. There is a small library of classic books.

The tropical-themed dining room has a table that seats eight people. There is a retro record/CD player, with radio, along with a selection of vintage vinyl and CD’s, a smart TV, and a small sofa, perfect for sitting whilst talking to the chef. The adjoining galley kitchen is fully equipped and cleverly laid out, to maximise the space, and includes a washing machine, dishwasher, microwave, toaster, slow cooker, and Bosch Tassimo coffee-machine. Also on the ground floor there are steps that lead you from the hallway down to a funky, pebble-tiled bathroom.

Up on the first floor, you have two characterful, comfortable king bedrooms, along with a Victorian-style bathroom with an elegant, free standing, roll-top bath and a cubicle rainforest shower.

Up on the second floor, you have two beautifully furnished attic bedrooms, with a playful nautical twist, one of which has a cosy chill-out corner, with leatherette beanbags and footstools. Both bedrooms have twin beds, with one of the beds in each room being under the eaves. Whitby Abbey can be seen from one of the attic bedroom skylights.

At the front of the house there is a lawned garden with gravelled sitting-out area, and garden tables, chairs, and a parasol are provided (in the shed).

There is a small, beautifully presented decked area outside at the back with seating for two people, and a couple of lanterns. This is a great area in which to sit out and enjoy your morning coffee.

There is off-street parking for one car at the front. There is also free on-street parking at the front and rear (when available).

A travel cot, highchair, two stairgates, and a fire guard are on site. Please note that you will need to bring your own mattress/bedding for the travel cot. A welcome pack, information folder, and games and puzzles are provided. There is also a picnic basket for four people on site, plus a pair of binoculars. Hand soap and hand lotion are supplied by The Yorkshire Soap Co.

This is a ’shoes-off’ house, and spa slippers will be provided (up to approximately UK size 10). Guests are encouraged to bring their own slippers.
